Richard’s role in this project was to design a pair of wedding rings that would reflect and unite the groom’s Welsh heritage and the bride’s Englishness, and assist the clients to make the rings themselves.
The clients had come to Richard on the recommendation of a previous customer and had travelled from Wales to his Lincoln workshop in order to be involved in the creation of their rings.
On arrival they had very little idea of how they wanted the rings to look, but after a brainstorming session the designs took shape, partly based on one of the groom’s tattoos!
Both rings incorporate the English rose and the Welsh dragon. The groom’s is made from red and white gold and is a heavy band with the design in relief, while the bride’s is fashioned from red and yellow gold and is an open design. The clients were involved in the hands-on making of the rings, the whole process taking two days.
